Review Meeting of State Screening Committees on Anti-profiteering by Revenue Secretary, GoI, on 21.11.2019.

Dr. A.B Pandey, IAS, Revenue Secretary to the Government of India, chaired a review meeting of the State Screening Committees on Anti-profiteering via video conference on 21st November 2019.

The Meeting had the august presence of Sh. B.N. Sharma, Chairman (NAA)-cum-ex-officio Secretary to the Government of India, Sh. P.K. Das, Chairman, CBIC and Sh. S.M. Bhatnagar, Member (GST), CBIC. It was attended by Sh. JC Chauhan, Technical Members (NAA); Smt. R. Bhagyadevi, Technical Members (NAA); Sh. Amand Shah, Technical Members (NAA); Sh. OP Dadheech, Director General of Anti-Profiteering; Sh. Rakesh Goyal, ADG, Directorate General of Anti-Profiteering and his team; all Pr. CCs/CCs of CGST; and all CCTs of SGST along with all the Screening Committee Members.

In the meeting, the Revenue Secretary monitored the performance of all the State Screening Committees on Anti-profiteering and the issues pertaining to its functioning were dwelled upon. The Revenue Secretary instructed that any complaint of non-compliance with the provisions of anti-profiteering by any supplier under GST should be looked into timely and properly by the Committees on a prima facie basis. He further pressed on the need of strict compliance of the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), approved by the GST Council on 30.04.2019 to ensure that the benefit of reduction of tax rates or benefit of ITC is being commensurately passed on to the consumers. It was also emphasised that the State Screening Committees need not do a detailed investigation of the complaint.
